Terms and Conditions

Full terms and conditions are detailed below. By booking an order, it will be deemed that the terms and conditions have been read, understood and accepted by you the customer.

Prices

All prices are non-negotiable and are priced according to your specific design and size of cake

Payment

All payment must be made on the agreed date. Failure to pay will result in your order being cancelled. Mother Goose Cakes and Bakes accept payment via bank transfer, PayPal, card payment or cash.

Cancellations

If you need to cancel your order, I reserve the right to retain your non-refundable deposit. If cancellation takes place less than 72 hours before the event, I reserve the right to seek 100% of the order value. To cancel your order, you need to contact me via written message and the cancellation will take effect once received.

If you need your cake at a later date, I will endeavour to accommodate your request providing the date is available with myself. Otherwise it will be treated as a cancellation.

Design

It is your responsibility to thoroughly read and check the details of the design details discussed and the quote provided. I reserve the right to amend the design at any time if there are circumstances beyond my control (e.g. melting due to hot weather), which may compromise the finish of the cake.

Design Alteration

If you wish to alter or change your design, I will strive to adjust this where possible for you, but on occasion this may not be possible according to the nature of the changes required or the timescales given. If the changes affect cost, or if the preparations have begun on the original design, I will advise you of the adjustments to your remaining balance. This will need to be agreed by yourself in writing before the alterations can take place.

Chocolate

If you have opted for a cake decoration with chocolate, I cannot be held responsible for any melting of the cake once it has left my possession. I have no control over the environment or venue temperature and would recommend extreme caution if choosing a cake decorated with chocolate during extreme hot periods.

Non-Edible Items

Many cakes will contain small amounts of non-edible items. Such items include - but not limited to - support dowels, ribbon, cocktail sticks, toppers. You will be advised about the placement of such items, but it is your responsibility to ensure these items are removed before consumption.

Allergies & Special Dietary Requirements

All of my cakes contain gluten, diary and eggs. Ingredients such as nuts can be removed from the cakes, but they are still used in my kitchen (along with other allergens such as soya). Therefore I cannot guarantee that my cakes are completely free of them.

I can offer special dietary requirements under certain circumstances and prior agreement.

Damage

Cake decorations are very delicate items. I cannot accept responsibility for the damage that is caused to the cake or decoration after it has left my possession.

If any damage is caused to the cake after it has left my possession you can contact me and request a repair. The repair will be costed accordingly, including any transport cost if necessary.

Portion Guide

My portion guide is an approximation only. The final serving number will vary depending on how the cake is cut.

Best Before Dates

As my cakes are made of natural ingredients, they do not have the extended shelf life of most supermarket cakes, which contain additives and preservatives. All cakes are baked to ensure they are fresh for the date of the event. I cannot guarantee the quality, if consumed more than 3 days after the event.

Fondant covered cakes should not be refrigerated as this will cause condensation to form on the surface, which will affect the visual appearance of the cake’s finish.

Complaints

Should you be unhappy with any aspect of your cakes, please notify me upon delivery/collection of the cake in order to rectify in time for your event. Any other concerns will be made in writing with evidence to support of the fault. Refunds will not be given due to change of mind.

Delivery & Collection

I offer free delivery in Plymouth and surrounding areas. Further afield will occur a charge.

If you choose to collect your cakes from my premises, I will not be held liable for any damage once the cake has left my premises.

When collecting your cake, or moving to a venue, please ensure that you transport your cake either in the footwell or boot space. It is recommended that you ensure this area is clear and clean.

Please be aware, that placing your cake on a seat or uneven surface - even for a small journey - may affect the stability and internal structure of the cake, which could result in irreparable damage.

It is recommended that the cake is taken directly to the venue and that it is kept in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight and stored in the package provided.
